The Orlando Magic could do no wrong last Christmas Day. They destroyed Chris Paul's New Orlean's Hornets 88-68 in a game that was over by the 1st quarter in what proved to be maybe the easiest Magic win of that '08-'09 season. Today on a warm, monsoon rain-heavy afternoon, the Boston Celtics came in and ruined Christmas for plenty of Magic fans, knocking down the home team to a 22-8 record after the 86-77 Celtic win.

Doc Rivers' men in green have been in town since Wednesday, even before the Magic defeated the Houston Rockets on that evening. With no Paul Pierce available to play for the next few weeks due to knee issues, the Celtics went to Disney World with their families on Thursday and showed relaxed poise today. Rajon Rondo had a rare 8 turnovers, but almost managed a triple-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. Rondo showed now fear constantly attacking the Magic's painted area. With an emotional ABC halftime report dedicated to Ray Allen, 'Ray Ray' put up 18 points. Tony Allen poured in a season-best 16 points as he was a fantastic gap filler for the missing Paul Pierce. It was Tony's first start in just eight games played this '09-'10 campaign. Boston has now won 14 of its last 15 games as they are now 23-5 and are off until Sunday when they kickoff a 3-game West Coast road trip in Los Angeles against the Clippers. Kevin Garnett couldn't finished the contest after hitting the deck on a Vince Carter drive that saw Rashard Lewis sink a wide open 3-pointer to cut Orlando's deficit to 75-78 with 1:02 remaining in regulation. It's about as close as Orlando got, even with 'KG' unable to finish the game. Glen 'Big Baby' Davis was activated and saw his first court action since he hurt his right thumb before the regular season. Davis was blocked by Dwight Howard and only made his presence on the glass, snagging 3 rebounds in 4 minutes.
Vince Carter was the only Magic man to show up tonight as he put up 27 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Forced to fight through foul trouble, Carter put up 10 first quarter points, and 11 3rd quarter points to allow Coach Stan Van Gundy's squad to hang around in the game. The Magic shot an atrocious 25% from the field after one half. They finished at 33% and Boston shooting 43% for the entire game. Dwight Howard mentally checked out of this game after the 1st quarter. Dwight and Van Gundy each picked up technicals. He grabbed 20 rebounds, but only managed a very weak 5 points and 4 blocks to go along with seven turnovers. Jameer Nelson's third game back from injury saw him get dismantled by Rondo and Tony Allen. Nelson finished with 8 points on 3 of 11 shooting. Rashard Lewis managed 19 points on just 5 of 14 shooting as he did all he could in the 4th quarter. Mickael Pietrus scored all 9 of his points in the first quarter. The Celtics ended a Magic 5-game home winning streak. Orlando is off until Wednesday when they once again play at Amway Arena and host the Milwaukee Bucks in the last contest of the 2009 calendar year.
